I’ve been taking piano lessons with Alvin for the past year and a half, and it’s been an incredible experience. He tailors the lessons to my goals, and I’ve seen real progress in 7th chords, music theory, improvisation for production, and even jazz. Alvin makes learning both fun and challenging, and his teaching has significantly improved my playing and my approach to music production. Highly recommended!

I can highly recommend Alvin as a saxophone teacher. He is both extremely knowledgeable and easy to work with. He teaches saxophone technique and music theory, but lessons are never dry or boring as Alvin quickly applies technique and theory to the playing of songs. He has helped me to improve my tone and my ability to improvise over jazz standards. He has been consistently sensitive and receptive to my own needs, interests, and requests. He is patient, supportive and encouraging. We end each session playing together and having fun!

Alvin is a patient and encouraging teacher who has been very good at helping me understand and play sax for the first time. He has been great at adapting practice material to exercises that match my interests but still push me to develop. He is a great player himself and I still have so much to learn. My son has been with Alvin for about two years now. His teaching method finds a great balance for theory and practice. The pacing for my then six year old allowed for his curiosity and intrigue to set in. He then takes the lead to reinforce the lessons without overloading the child. He also includes some fun song choices here and there to break away from the pieces from the lesson book. My son enjoyed his time with Alvin and I definitely recommend him if you have little ones looking to start their musical journey.

For the past several months almost to a year now since I've first started taking tenor saxophone lessons from Alvin has been very beneficial towards my progress of playing the sax. Before i didn't know what i was doing and could barely play a single note and struggled to learn songs I've liked to play from YouTube learning the basics and being self taught but realizing i needed help from a tutor with trained ears and years of experience and decided that Alvin was the first pick to take lessons and ever since I was able to pick up sounds and techniques i didn't know i was able to pull it off. He explains things that are articulate and easy for me to understand and applies the pressure whenever your progress is going stale so if it weren't without him I wouldn't be able to play the major scales and learn many songs and techniques like falloffs just goes to show with the amount of time of practice and the right tutor to learn from like Alvin anyone can improve so much than what they've realized within less than a year. And i couldn't recommend anyone else but him as an adult learner of the tenor saxophone.
